8 Days on a boat in the British Virgin Islands

A couple of years ago, my father and brother took a trip touring baseball parks around the US. The 2 weeks of baseball and brazenly unhealthy food inspired my father to seek out similar experiences with my little sister and me.
Myself being the Boy Scout of the family, my Dad and I knew that we’d want to find something outdoorsy and adventurous. After deciding that we didn’t want to do any great amount of hiking, camping, or carrying heavy things, we decided on sailing.
A year’s worth of planning later, and we were headed towards the British Virgin Islands, in the Carribean. Bareboat sailboat chartering pairs all of the route-planning and logistics-managing of camping and hiking with the good food and beer of glamping.
Our trip would show us plenty of the experiences that you might expect from 2 guys and a couple dozen beers on a boat for a week, but I was surprised at the amount that I learned along the way — about the resiliency of people, and about one of the most important people in my life.
