It sounds like you and I have had different experiences and have heard from different experts in this respect. I’ve certainly seen engineers that have left because they were no longer excited by an opportunity.

Of course, there are other reasons that people leave, and I don’t mean to intimate that there is only one reason that an engineer would leave.

You’re certainly right in saying that poor management also contributes to losing great engineers, but my article tries to tackle what PM’s in particular can contribute to that engineering culture.
